All About Me

My name is Cherie, I’m the mother of two amazing sons (yes I am biased, every mom think’s their kids are amazing).  I’m married to my high school sweetheart, although I would never use those words.  I’ve been working as a secretary, or politically correct – administrative professional – since I was 17.  I have a love for baking, not a lot of love for cooking, but a love for baking.  Everything from cookies and cakes to bread and buns.

I’m the “middle child” of 3 girls.  That’s a lot of estrogen in one house.  My poor step-dad, I don’t know how he survived our teen years!  On the other hand, my house is filled with testosterone.  I have no pink in my house, it’s not even allowed through the front door.  The closest I can come to pink is a very dark burgundy.

I have to admit that I’m a picky eater, and I married a picky eater and we have jointly raised picky eaters.  As I get older I’m trying to be better, it’s not really working though.  I keep trying to get my boys to try new things, even just one bite.  It’s actually quite funny to watch them look at me when I tell them just one bite.  I should probably mention my boys are 20 and 17 and they’re both bigger than me.  When they were little my mother and my Oma would take care of them.  This didn’t help with their picky eating habits.  I would come home from work, only to be told they ate really well today, they had 2 doughnuts and 3 pudding.  Yup, that was eating well.  So this is where we are now, me trying to get them to have a spoon full of something new.

My older son has a sweet tooth, which I absolutely love, because he will eat anything (without nuts – he’s not allergic, he just doesn’t like them) that I bake.  Especially if I put chocolate chips in it.  My younger son is more about spicy foods.  He puts hot sauce on everything.  He’s the poster child for Frank’s Red Hot.  We go through bottles of the stuff every week.

My husband and I have been together since I was 16.  Wow, as I realized we’ve been together 25 years now, and still, I’m not sure if either one of us has actually grown up.  He still thinks he can wrestle with our boys like he is a teenager and I listen to my music a little too loud.  But he’s definitely my best friend, I know there is no one else I want to spend the rest of my life with.  Luckily he feels the same way.

    1. I hope you love it as much as I do, it’s like having pumpkin pie on a sandwich. That’s my idea of pure joy.

  4. Love your blog! I’m new here. Wonderful recipes, can’t wait to give a few of them a try. The Pretzel buns look yummy, though I’ll have to play around to make them GF as I’m fairly intolerant.
